Prayer Plant (5614)
Prayer plants are named because of a rather unique habit they have of folding their leaves up at night. The leaves of the prayer plant are its most interesting feature. They often have dark green spots on a light green background. Some varieties have red veins. Their main use is that of specimen plants placed around the home to brighten drab spots.
Maintain temperatures between 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and keep the soil in the pot moderately moist. A range of low to high light levels is tolerated by the prayer plant, but plants do best in a north or east window exposure. Try to keep the air surrounding prayer plants near 50 percent relative humidity. Low humidity will cause browning of the leaf edges. Fertilize them once every three to four months with a standard house plant fertilizer.
