Reading promote life long learning (1116)
Research shows that the home environment and atmosphere appears to influence a child's success more than the parents' level of education or income. Parents can communicate the importance of school and lifelong learning in many ways. Children see everything and are influenced by what they see. They notice how parents spend their time, what they read, what TV programs they watch. One of the best things a parent can do to promote lifelong learning is to read to children.
Reading to a child for as little as ten minutes a day can help her develop security by the close body contact that comes with sitting on Mom's or Dad's lap. It can help the child practice using language skills and learning concepts. Also, it can help him develop an interest in the world and its people.
Reading a few minutes each day helps develop the belief that learning can be fun and a lifelong pursuit.
