Lipstick and Chocolate Stains (1410)

Lipstick or chocolate on your clothing needs quick and careful action. If the fabric is dry-clean only, identify the stain and blot it with a dry cloth. Then, take the garment to a professional dry cleaner as soon as possible.

If the fabric is washable, place stain face down on paper towels. Sponge the stain with a non-flammable dry-cleaning solvent or a pre-wash soil-and-stain remover such as "Axion," "Biz" or "Spray and Wash". All of these products may be harmful to the color or the finish of the fabric, so be sure to test in an inconspicuous area such as a seam allowance or inside hem. Blot with absorbent material and replace paper frequently. At this point lipstick and chocolate stains have slightly different treatments.

LIPSTICK STAINS

- Continue treatment until pigment is removed.

- Rinse.

- Rub light-duty liquid detergent into the stain until its outline is gone.

- Launder.

- Repeat treatment if necessary.

CHOCOLATE STAINS

- Launder after using the pre-soak.

- If a greasy stain remains, apply a light duty liquid detergent.

- Launder again.

- If stain remains, soak 30 minutes in an enzyme presoak.

- Rinse.

- Launder.
