Crayon Stains (1407)

If the fabric care instructions say dry-clean only, gently scrape off excess crayon from the surface with a dull table knife. Sponge with non-flammable dry-cleaning solvent; flush with dry-cleaning solvent. If the stain does not come out, take to a drycleaner as soon as possible.

If the fabric is washable, gently scrape off excess crayon with a dull table knife. Place stained surface down on a pad of paper towels. Sponge with dry-cleaning solvent. Replace the toweling as it absorbs the stain.  Flush with dry-cleaning solvent, and let air-dry. If using powdered detergent, sponge area with cool water. Apply a paste of powdered detergent and water, and launder as usual. Air-dry until the stain has been completely removed. If using liquid detergent, let item air-dry completely, then apply liquid detergent directly to the dry fabric. Launder as usual. Repeat, if necessary.

If safe for the fabric, treat with bleach during wash cycle. Launder when the stain is removed.
