Color in the Garden
Color is one of the most important attributes of a beautiful flower garden. Home gardeners can create an inviting showplace by following the basic principles of color combination. These combinations, or color schemes, are the same as those used by artists and designers. Gardeners use flower blooms rather than paint to produce a pleasing effect.
Fundamentals of the color wheel When sunlight is broken up, or refracted, into a band of colors, it includes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. If this spectrum of color were bent into a circle with the ends fastened together, a color wheel would be created. A color wheel is a handy tool used to choose primary, secondary, and tertiary colors for the garden.
