Cleaning Up The Garden (6205)

Many garden disease problems can be reduced through proper sanitation practices. Most pathogens spend part of their life cycle in soils, crop residues, weed hosts, and insect pests.

To help eliminate the spread of these pathogens in your garden, follow these simple suggestions.

1. Disinfect pruning tools before, during, and after pruning.

2. Collect and destroy plant residues that are contaminated with diseased organisms.

3. Eliminate all weed hosts.

4. Rotate the crops in your garden this year and following years as well.

5. Remove diseased plant parts or diseased plants, and use chemical controls when necessary.
